Bali Healers: My First Balinese Healing Experience For a long time I’ve wanted to try a Balinese Healing session. More for the experience than anything else. But, last week I totally eat-pray-loved it. I was a 33 year-old Western single woman on a mission in Ubud, Bali’s center for healing. Elizabeth Gilbert would be proud. I visited one of the best of Bali healers, and here’s what happened. Meet Desak: a Balinese healer with electric hands It started because a (Dutch, super […]

Ear Infections: How To Prevent And Cure Them Naturally Chances are big that when you are a travelling surfer, you’ve not only seen many beautiful surf spots, you’ve also seen many ugly hospitals. We get hurt a lot. We endure fin cuts, reef cuts, abrasions, concussions, ear infections and many more injuries and illnesses in our endless search to get our next fix. A common problem, not only for surfers, are outer ear infections (Otitis Externa). Especially in warm climates […]

Pop-Up Surf & Yoga Weekend Retreat 26-28 August 2016

Aaah Portugal, one of the sunniest areas of Europe. With around 3000 hours sunshine a year, it’s no wonder so many Northern Europeans escape their polar climate, and head down to the land of plenty. Ideal for surfers (so many different waves), Portugal has something to offer every traveller. So when I was invited to review the Perfect Spot Hostel for a Surf & Yoga Retreat in Cascais, Lisbon, I didn’t need to think twice.

This title sounds like I’ve become a full-blown hippie. Fear not, I still shave, I just had cosmetic surgery (had to remove a mole that was annoying me), I eat meat, and I use airplanes. After 15 years of taking the Pill though, I have decided to quit. I did it once before, and it felt good. Somehow I started again, but now it’s definitely time to quit once and for all. I’m just gonna put it out there: hormones […]

Thailand is one of the best countries to visit if you want to immerse yourself in yoga. If you want to do some ‘karma’ yoga (aka volunteering), and if you like elephants, I would definitely recommend joining the Elephant Nature Park in Chang Mai. On our trip around the world, my boyfriend and I spent a week on the ‘Journey to Freedom’ project. Here’s my review. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will answer as soon as possible.

Whether you’ve been gone for 3 months, or 3 years, coming home after long-term travel is weird. Actually, that’s an understatement. It’s super weird. Especially if you live in a fast-paced country or city, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the Twilight Zone. Everybody is just so strange, people are mostly hurried, cranky and preoccupied with stuff that you just don’t get. Where are the smiles, the smell of kretek, the billion scooters driving around everywhere and nowhere? Fortunately, there […]

Far, far, far (depending on where you are) away lies Fiji and its 333 islands. Yes, 333. I didn’t know that before either. We’re here for 14 days, and since day 1 I feel like I’ve stepped into a postcard of the ultimate paradise island. Everything is so beautiful. The water is clear and turquoise, the sand soft and white, coconuts and ukulele’s are plentiful and the people are so, so friendly. Every time we arrive on a new island, the hosts […]
